Marguerite Harbert remains only Alabamian on Forbes' billionaire list (Birmingham: Home Depot, construction)

Marguerite Harbert of Birmingham, the 87-year-old widow of construction company founder John Harbert, remained the only Alabamian on Forbes magazine's worldwide list of billionaires, released Thursday.
Forbes estimated the Harbert family fortune at $1.2 billion, which would make her No. 993 among the world's richest people and No. 361 in the United States.
New Orleans Saints owner and auto dealer Tom Benson was Louisiana's only billionaire, with $1 billion in total assets. Mississippi had no entries on the list.
Georgia had five billionaires, led by Anne Cox Chambers, whose $13.4 billion in assets is tied up in the Cox media empire. Also on the Georgia list: Chambers' nephew Jim Kennedy ($6.7 billion), Home Depot co-founders Bernard Marcus ($1.9 billion) and Arthur Blank ($1.3 billion), and Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy ($1.8 billion). Florida had 27 billionaires.
Carlos Slim Helu, the 71-year-old Mexican tycoon, was judged the world's richest person, with $74 billion in assets, followed by Microsoft Corp. Co-chair Bill Gates, with $56 billion.
