I have three little girls and am hoping to plant some roots in an area of Birmingham that would allow for great community activities/accessibility to activities like dance, gymnastics, sports, etc for my kids. A nice area to walk or bike in would be nice, too. Looking to stay under 225k for housing. I work in Homewood; wife stays at home with kids. Any suggestions? P.S. We love historic houses, but don't mind a new build at all, as long as some of these amenities are nearby.

At under 225k and 3 kids, you are probably best served to look in older homes in Hoover and also homes in North Shelby County (Oak Mountain, Pelham).

What about schools? I hear that some of Hoover's schools are going to be rezoned? Would that affect resale value on certain Hoover areas?

It could marginally, but all the schools in Hoover are pretty decent.
