Hello,

For the long weekend, I wanted to do some para-sailing. Some adventure, basically. Have never para sailed in life and am too heavy a man for sky diving. Wanted to canoe and raft, but that requires taking safety lessons first. Meh.
Though I did google and Mobile seems to be the closest beach for the same, but I thought I could ask here and gather some intel
I would also love to do the zip lines some day. But then I think this long weekend must be utilized to its maximum. Any advises on where I could particularly go and enjoy other things that place has to offer as well ? I would love to go to a beach in this great country too. I have been to some in my country, but nothing more to do than talk to the sea and build a house on the sand. I wonder what attracts so many people to the beaches.
Any places to visit on the way from Bham to there. I will just be a single guy in a rented car.
Any advise, appreciated

Cheers,

Too heavy for skydiving, but not for parasailing? Does it work that way?

Yeah, it does. But thanks, I did google it up and it seems the difference is because a couple can para-sail together but when sky diving, you dive alone (or have your own chute).

If you don't drive much and just want an adrenalin rush, take that car on 65 for an hour and dodge the trucks. Do it without insurance if you are REALLY brave.

I don't recall ever having seen parasailing closer than Mobile. If you plan on that, be sure to call first, tell your weight and make a firm reservation. Everybody hits beaches on Mem day weekend. Another thought - check for hot air balloon ascents. Sometimes they allow passengers.

Dodging trucks on 65 in a used 4 cylinder chevy, where you have to push the gas pedal like 4 seconds in advance for the car to accelerate, is something that no longer gives the rush
Once I dodged them trucks so much that my trunk popped open. Pulling over, getting out to close it and getting back in, was an extreme rush. I took that trunk opening as a sign, put my car on cruise at 70 and the right most lane and kept driving. lol
Thats what everyone tells me, mem day is gonna be crazy rush everywhere. More so PS is no fun at all compared to water skiing or snorkeling. I am having second thoughts.... but.... I never know. Thanks, I will call them para fellas and confirm on the weight.

Not many bodies of water big enough for parasailing near B'ham...the ones that are often have power lines crossing.
How about a powered parachute? You can do that here: Air Alabama - Hot Air Balloons, Balloon Rides, Aerial Advertising, Pilot Training, Ballooning & Aviation Links
Hot air ballooning is another aviation possibility. PM if you're interested - I can give you some teachers' names.
