Default Is there internet access in Birmingham parks?(moving from Auburn)

Does the city provide some kind of internet access in the parks? Be it native or some kind of event services equipment for loan/rent. If not no biggie I can rig up something, I'm just trying to survey my options now. I'm thinking of moving over to Eastlake and opening a game design & development studio to teach GD&D and general computing while working on my own projects.

I'd like to do some stuff in the community parks also that may require internet access.

Thank you!

Never heard of "public access". Depending on what you plan to do in public parks you will need permits.

Thanks,

I figured as much about the possibility of permits. It's certainly nothing crazy (I don't have those kinds of funds). We’re talking about something as simple as a computer, projector, and a tarp to display on. Other than that maybe a basic picnic setup for food. Just something to get people to come out of their homes. Hopefully I can gauge peoples’ interest in the Game Desgin & Development / General computing teaching services I'm thinking of offering.

In order to get my ducks in a row I need to know what I have to work with. That includes what I can provide along with what the city provides I.E. internet access in the parks.

I've never used it bu railroad park has wifi. I wouldn't expect many, if any other public parks in the city or area to have any internet access.

Thats no good I guess I'll have to tether to my cell phone or something. I've heard of railroad park and viewed the website but it's not located near anyone. To be more specific I wanted the local parks near homes where people could simply walk or bike to them.

That said this is the kind of info I'm looking for so thats a plus!

Maybe I should drive up to birmingham myself and put my eyes on the parks first hand.

You are using a public park to promote your business and you are serving food/drink - be on the safe side and inquire about a permit.

Railroad Park is pretty popular and that idea of your sounds like a great fit for the area (near the University of Alabama in Birmingham so you might get some aspiring developers interested). It's not right next to a ton of housing (though more than you might think ,a pretty big apartment complex used by students is right next door) but with the new ballpark opening up across the street everyone's hoping that will change.

Hopefully you have no problem with permits. Be sure to let us know how it goes

In Birmingham it doesn't get any more walkable and bikeable than railroad park. Its one of the most popular parks in the region.
