Historic Bessemer: My mother is from Bessemer, AL. I did not know there were so many big, historic homes there. My mom lives in Chelsea now, and I live in Memphis. I enjoyed these pictures of Bham!

The smaller house with the pink in it and ice cream cone looking part of the roof, isn't that the house that the actor from Beatlejuice purchased?

Yes, Glenn Shadix bought that home! Here are pictures of it's current state...............

This house was known throughout Bessemer as one of the premier historical homes. Known as the G. H. Stevenson House in the South Bessemer Inventory, the home belonged to Glenn Shadix who moved back to Bessemer about a year ago. Saturday December 14th it burned. Glenn thankfully was not in the house when the fire started, and is physically OK. The cause has been determined to be the furnace wiring.

Oh no, that is terrible. I hate to hear that. I have a couple of friends who moved here from CA into one of the old historic homes, and are members of the Bessemer Historic Homes Owner's Association. Well, I call them my friends even though I met them through being friends with their mother who also stays with them. Great bunch of people, very genuine and outgoing, and they do a lot for stray animals too. I want to say it is in Brighton, but am not certain. They did a lot of renovating after buyin online for like 7K, and it looks amazing on the inside and out. They have elaborate Halloween and Christmas parties. It was featured on an episode of If Walls Could Talk.

Didn't want to mention names, but yes. I worked with the mom for a good while, and met them through her. Haven't seen or spoke to them in a while though. I think the last time was when my wife and I went to their Christmas party. Really cool group of folks.

Wow, great. Tell them hi next time you see them for me. Tell them it is the long-haired guy that used to work with mom. They should know who it is.
