I'm on their basic resedential plan where they only claim 30Mbps down.
I haven't gotten below 35Mbps the last few times I've tested it and had been averaging around 50 and then this happened.

Hmm, I am on the same and have never seen less than 30 Meg. Although when I go home today I will check for the speed. Have you used the netflix app either on a smart TV or through a roku box ? If yes, does it work butter smooth for you ? Even at these speeds Netflix screws it up for me and makes me keep waiting. I wonder how the others put up with netflix on TV. Netflix works great on the stupid TMobile 3/4g connection on a nexus in the boonies-t of places

Then that's good, right? Or did you meant to say "never seen MORE?"

I've used Netflix on both a PS3 and an LG Blu ray player, both wired. Ive had no real complaints about it. 90% of the time it is butter smooth. The other ten percent I have trouble loading videos but I assume it to be on Netflix' end.

You may want to check your router and make sure it's a model good for streaming.

Yeah, I meant never seen my dl speed dip below 30. I never thought a router would be a question for streaming. I will check that out tonight. Thank you.

I'm using the modem they provided with a Netgear N600 router. The router has so-so reviews and it sometimes drops the wireless signal to our phones but the computers and Ps3 and printers and Blu ray players don't mind.

Hmmm. In my experience, the IP experience is very location specific. Like our house in Memphis, years back, dsl outperformed cable, due to neighborhood load demand on the cable. In CA, several different houses, all rentals, dsl usually outperformed cable - but sometimes other way around.

Here in MA, cable (charter) is much faster, and the traffic is light enough this seems to be reliable. By much faster, I mean measured rates over 10 times the speed of dsl. Actual speed.

Customer service always sucks, for all of them, sooner or later. I haven't had a phone or tv service I didn't end up ticked off at, sooner or later, that I can remember.
