Default Moving from Eastern Ky to somewhere around Alabaster. Scared to death.

So, my husband got a job somewhere around Alabaster. He's staying in Alabaster right now, and I'm going down on the 25th. I'm pretty much scared crapless. I've never been away from home, but I know this is the best thing for us, because there is nothing at all for us around here. We will never have anything if we stay. I never thought I'd see the day that we'd have to leave home for him to get a job in the mines. But anyway, I have a son, who will be four on the 26th and I'm looking for a good safe place for him. I can't find much for rent online in Alabaster, most everything I find is in Hoover. So hopefully some of you guys can put my mind at ease and give me a little bit of information about the place. please.

Hoover is a good area I would just stay away from the many apartments near Lorna Road & the east side of the Gallaria. I use to live there, it was awful. What's your rent budget looking like?

Areas south of Birmingham are known for being safe and very nice. Like another user said, though, try to stay away from the Lorna Road apartments.

Alabaster is actually a good place to live. It has great hospitals Drs and shopping is good--The shopping in Hoover is much better but the cost of living in Alabaster is much lower. Schools in Hoover and Mountain Brook are the top in the state but Alabaster schools are good not the top in the state but good.

Alabaster is probably about a 20 min ride from Hoover but you never know what traffic will be like esp during rush hour. GL with your search. I once lived in Northern KY by the Cincinatti border. Any move is scary but the areas you are looking at are good areas to be in.
