LOL CPG is the man.

Alabama was the first to the moon, we have built submarines, we build Benzes, we build sophisticated weapons, war ships for the Navy, and soon we will be building commercial jets!

Ignorance is a disease the Magic City has a lot to offer.

Slow to start and even slower to give up. Those guys are making a mistake to count us out of the race that they so enjoy. We aren't going away. The best has just begun.

They are all in the same TV market.
Gadsden arose up along side Birmingham in Alabama's industrial boom, and Tuscaloosa grew because of the University of Alabama, which gets many of its students from the Birmingham area. Tuscaloosa is closer to Birmingham than Athens is to Atlanta - about 50 crow-fly miles.
My question is: Since Birmingham ranks significantly higher (42nd) as a TV Market, than it does as MSA, or CSA, or Radio Market, or Urbanized Area, I am curious why no one on this thread seems to use this metric?

TV Market is probably used at least as often as MSA among the media and general public when evaluating the size/importance of markets.

P.S. I just found this thread a couple of days ago, and actually skimmed or read all 302 posts, even the one from happy299 (post #284 of this thread, 7-5-2013) selling vibrators from China. I'm new here at City-Data, and wonder why posts such as this are not deleted?

Because vibrators from China really contributed to the overall happiness of Birminghamsters. If you'll look at the retail thread, we're really agog at the expected opening of a Sex Toy Warehouse at the Summit.

Because a lot of detractors think that Birmigham's CSA is nothing for it to be proud of. TV market would most likely carry less weight. It does to me anyway. I flagged the China post but nothing was done.

This thread has run its course.

Bham is a "major city" within its own peer group. That's all. Stop the hyperbole.
