I recently moved to Birmingham (Centerpoint area). Currently staying with friends. I have a daughter and need a good place to live with rent being no more than 650. My credit is shot due to old medical bills. Can't go home - just got a good job with the state. HELP!!!

Hi roneseel
I can't tell you of any good rentals...but I wanted to say not to give up hope. If it were me, I'd just be upfront and honest with people when trying to find a place. You can still get a rental with bad credit...maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but better than living with someone else.
I have noticed medical bills are often overlooked. My husband's ex had a TON of medical bills that always popped up on his credit report. We were still able to rent, buy cars, etc. As long as you have a decent job, you should be okay.
Best of luck to you.

Your best bet is to find a Private Renter. My credit is bad due to medical bills also and i always rent from private owners. Call around and ask then if they run a credit check, alot of people understand hosptial bills not being paid. Also go to freecreditreport.com to see how bad it is, alot of times its not as bad as you think it is. Good luck!

Look for properties privately owned or those by small management firms instead of the large apt complexes owned by large property management companies who have stringent rules. Offer to pay a larger deposit up front (money talks) as can references from folks stating you're not going to run out on the lease or tear it up.
