Hi. We are looking for a top- notch academic program, preferably Christian based with uniforms. Best case would be a pre-K program (although 4k) would also work. Please help! We are looking in the greater Birmingham area and would prefer Vestavia, Hoover, Homewood, Alabaster, Pelham or anywhere nearby. Thanks!

It isn't Christian based but Indian Springs is highly regarded.

If you need to go the Christian route, then there are several parochial schools that are quite good such as Our Lady of the Valley. There's also Briarwood.

But the best private schools in town for that age are Advent for K-8 (Episcopal), followed by Highlands. Then once you get to junior high and high school, there's Indian Springs, Altamont, and John Carroll.

Briarwood? I believe it's Presbyterian. I know it's a high school, not sure about lower grades.

So, I think(?) you want Christian-based vs. Catholic-based (or parochial) schools. They are quite different...it's like comparing apples and oranges. My daughter attended both. In hindsight, I prefer the Christian-based schools.

I think you are differentiating between Protestant and Catholic, since Catholics are also Christian.

Both being Christ centered, I would say it is more like comparing apples to pears.
