The real test is how it looks on a weeknight, or like now between lunch and dinner. That will show how much business the captive audience of the hotels brings them. The two times we've been the crowd has been good, but that was before this latest round of restaurants opened up.

Me and my wife went out with some friends Saturday night and went to The Souther Kitchen Bar ate and had a couple drinks. Man some of the best food I've had in awhile. Garlic Mashed Potatoes were awesome.

Looks like Bruno Mars was a big hit. I am sure Uptown got a good "stress test" of business.

Uptown was packed for Father's Day, as one probably would expect. (outdoor show, ball game and decent weather brought a lot of people out)

I think it still looks pretty busy on a week night out there. The slowest times I've seen have been on Sunday afternoons. I've always been a big fan of "Sunday Fun Day" in other larger cities that I've lived in. I'm hoping that Birmingham will start having this type of atmosphere on Sundays soon as well. Uptown could have that feel. I would have liked to see a little more entertainment other than just restaurants.... Maybe a couple of retailers and some other form of entertainment?

I'm hoping the proposed addition will have some of this.

There is a small stage at Southern Kitchen and it was going strong Sunday before last at four in the afternoon. Guy was pretty good too.

Was it a younger black guy? I think I was there Sunday July 8 around 1pm and Michael Warren was doing a soundcheck of some sort.

You can not say that name around here.

No, I'm kidding. Yes, it is one of the spots I think would work - but I also think they would want to be in the burbs and would look towards Colonnade around the Galleria.

...still no reponse on my email...
