To our out-of-state friend: You see how it goes!
I'm sorry. It's not Crimson. Based on your recent play, it's dark pink.

And, you're right. Auburn is the also ran. We ran and ran and ran and ran all over you guys for the past six years.

I would look at McCalla. Short commute to Hueytown. Are you looking to rent an apartment or house?

Default Hoover - Bluff Park - Inverness

I have to agree; the Western side of Birmingham is not the place you would want to raise your children. Look in Hoover; Bluff Park (Hoover Schools); Inverness. I do not live in these areas, but for you to be somewhat close to work - and to have good public schools; along with a few private schools nearby - the Hoover area would be your best bet. One thing to know - the traffic in Hoover is heavy - due to ALL of the shopping centers and the Galleria ~ Again - I do not live in the area, but you might like it.

You are SO wrong about Hueytown. I am tired of those that disparage Hueytown. My family all still live in Hueytown. I grew up in Hueytown, am a professional and hold an advanced degree. I would still live in Hueytown but my job has taken me away. Believe me, information regarding crime can not be further from the truth. There have been incidents as have been in Homewood, Hoover, Vestavia, Mt Brook. For an affordable, extremely family friendly, church going city, you can NOT get a better place to live than Hueytown. Such a crime ridden area - HA! Where can you still find a large annual Christmas parade? An evening Christmas Candlelight stroll with hot chocolate and Christmas carols? Does your High school have a citywide bonfire & Homecoming parade? Annual 10K, race club sanctioned event with over 300 participants from throughout the state and nation? Churches holding Halloween events for children? Hueytown is like all areas - real estate is moving slow. There are several new neighborhoods with beatiful homes along with other homes that are affordable with terrific neighbors. When you are sick or have a death in the family, people still cut your grass, bring dinners, offer to help. A new high school will be online by the end of 2009. If you truly want to know about Hueytown - contact the Hueytown Chamber of Commerce for LOCAL, reputable real estate agents that will given you an honest view of the area. Please do not depend on agents from other areas of town to give an honest view of the area. Hoover is not the panacea that people you want to believe - check out the murders/thefts in the paper. However there are many incidents not reported. Recently a woman was murdered by gang members as she walked her dog in Hoover. 5 hispanic males murdered & tortured by believed gang members in Inverness of Hwy 280. And don't get me started on Bessemer's issues
