It's a fairly strong one for its size, but the key is what field(s) are you inquiring about?

I'm considering Birmingham as one of the cities to relocate to next summer. I was wondering the same thing as far as the job market. I'm looking for jobs in human resources, administrative assistant, and anything clerical. I will have bachelor's degree in December and also my PHR certification.

A good HR person can always find a slot. Metro unemployment is pretty low: Birmingham-Hoover, AL Economy at a Glance

But a lot depends on what industry you work in.

It's a decent job market for what it is, but wages will be lower than what you expect, and that's probably a national trend. Good luck to you!

I would definitely start with the larger employers... And I have heard that UAB is one of the highest paying, even for clerical positions. If you can't find anything at UAB, then try Regions, BBVA Compass, Protective Life Insurance. Those are a good start.
