We are planning on moving to this area due to a prospective job offer for me. me and my husband are both in IT . My husband is a IT management. i was wondering how is the IT job market here.

who are the major employees (Information technology)
how much % of workforce do you think are IT related

i worked in small cities say (portland ,Oregan) and big ones (chicago etc)
when compared to say portland,or how do you rate IT job market here in birmingham area.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield and Alabama Power and AT&T are the biggest employers in IT here along with the banks Regions and Compass.

thanks for the inputs. the one i'm looking at is a insurance comapany(infinity) . Do you know how it is? i mean like work life balance etc

Check out McLeod Software Corp too. I have a friend in IT there and she loves it. I'm assuming work/life balance is good because we meet at the pool most afternoons in summer and make a lot of weekend trips to the beach.

First place I'd go:

TechBirmingham - There is a strong technology ecosystem in Birmingham.

And, yes, it's a seller's market for technology. If you can code worth a damn, you'll get a job.
