Luckily there are no sporting venues down that way that will be utilized. So it will just be spectator and visitor traffic. I dont think anything special will be done unless a bart line is added that goes to the summit but that is doubtful.

With all the announcements i believe the bulk of visitors will be able to stay and eat and play downtown and 280 wont be stressed any more than it is.

That's true but we know shopping , dining , the hospital all will be increased in utilization from not till then + the visitors then. The busiest intersection in Alabama 20/59-65 is already estimated to jump from 260,000 cars daily passing through that intersection to 680,000 daily in a couple years passing through that intersection downtown Birmingham.I22 almost completed.

I think it is expected to increase by quite a substantial amount... But I don't think it's in a couple of years. ALDOT has some projected number.

As excited as I am about the World Games, this isn't exactly the Olympics. So just calm down.

That... and it's not like this event runs for that long. However, I'm in favor of LRT or BRT on 280 anyway. I just don't think we have to panic for a short term event.
