That sounds very cool. Should be a big success if they can keep the choices unique and eclectic as it sounds. Looking forward to trying Ethiopian food.

The Magic City foodie scene continues to build despite what the willfully dense perceive.

Cheers to J. Clyde and looking forward to 5 Points Brewing. Jerry is very supportive of getting Free the Hops legislation passed and expanding beer culture in Alabama. He is a State treasure.

Even more beer...

Ghost Train Brewing Co. to open tasting room in Lakeview | AL.com

Quote:
Ghost Train Brewing is in the process of opening its first tasting room at*2616 3rd Ave S. - the former space of*Cahaba Brewing. Taylor*DeBoer is a former partner at Cahaba Brewing.*

"I can utilize the infrastructure that's there instead of paying people to tear it down," DeBoer said. "There was an economic reason, but the bigger reason was that I love that area. We had looked at Lakeview, but couldn't find a place in our price range."*

After Cahaba announced it was moving to the Continental Gin building in Avondale,*Dog Days of Birmingham announced*it would be*moving into the former space, but*later announced*it wouldn't be expanding.

These places aren't new, but they are a good example of the variety of local establishments in the city's foodie scene

Blog post that references a write up on the Pizitz by Eater.com. Seems to hint at there being some near concepts for the bottom floors to be announced :

^They seem pretty stoked about it. I think it will be as big as they are hyping it up to be.^

Sky Castle opens tomorrow.

"We love Lakeview and yearned to reinvest in the area but wanted to dive into something completely different with this restaurant,” said*Jason Bajalieh. “We spent months traveling gathering ideas for what we wanted our new concept to be and ended up creating a term of our own, Gastro Lounge. Traditionally gastro implies a bar and restaurant that serves high-end beer, elevated seasonal cocktails and a twist on pub fare. Sky Castle chose to also incorporate lounge as the space mixes sleek tables with comfortable couches throughout an open concept, encouraging our customers to stay a while.”

Sky Castle is located in 4,500 square feet in the ground floor of the 29 Seven development on 7th Avenue South.

The winter 2016 menu includes Korean BBQ wings, chicken and waffles, and pimento cheese fritters among other dishes.

I thought I'd read something about it earlier. I didn't notice the date and thought it was a new story.

Perhaps the 8th time is the charm for Highlands.

Felt the same way. It was a 50s diner. It was a bar. It was a sports bar. It was a fine dining restaurant. I'm not exactly sure what it was.

But I did like the cocktails and chicken and waffles.
