Aye. It'll look better and work better. It may even deserve a new and better name.

Well, if we're going to need to frequent Red Mountain Expressway more during phase three, they need to fix that part as well.....it's a disaster and adding vehicles to it will make it worse.

Might as well start talking about it now, so they can get a headstart on when it is time to replace it again in 40 years...

Oh great. Another lawsuit blocking progress. I wish Cooper had been more forthcoming with his reservations, but it is his fault he left the door open by not doing his due diligence in studies to move it versus rebuilding it better where it is. In his last statement he made to attempt to squash the controversy, I think he made it fairly clear that ALDOT never gave any serious thought/study to moving it nor did they spend the money or time to really explore other options. Even if those other options turn out to be pie in the sky pipe dreams.

Hard to call it progress if poorly planned and executed.

What is poorly planned? Are you saying the design is flawed? That it will be dangerous to use? How has it been executed when they haven't built it yet?

Yes (failure to perform impact studies, for one). Yes. Not sure (Malfunction Junction will be made more complex, rather than simplified).

A lot of the controversy was made over them removing exits to push traffic through more efficiently so I don't get how you can perceive that as being made more complex.

Not doing a proper impact study is something entirely different from the design of the project itself being poorly planned and executed which is what I was getting at. Yes poor planning on them not doing their due diligence however this time I think it really was due to the fact that the budget and time constraints made it seem like an easy decision on their part.
