Next year my son will be old enough for summer camp and I have been researching. Three of them seem to be the main ones - Alpine, Laney, and Winnataska. I am having a hard time figuring out the big differences between them. They all seem to be Christian based and have the same type of programs and activities, but is there a reason why the price is so much higher at Alpine and Laney? I would love to hear any positives and negatives for each one.

I'm not familiar with Camp Winnetaska, but any of the camps in Mentone are wonderful. My girls have gone to Camp Skyline for years & most of the girls' brothers (if they have them) attend either Camp Laney or Lookout Mtn Camp for Boys. You really can't beat the setting, the atmosphere, etc. one of my daughters has attended a couple other camps over the years, but I must say....once you experience one of the Mentone camps, all others fall short. That probably e plains the price difference My girls have made some wonderful friends from all over the Sourh (& beyond!) at camp, and will undoubtedly run into some of them when they get to college.

Thanks for the reply! From my research it looks like Winnetaska has been around for almost 100 years, so there's a lot of history behind it, but maybe the setting in Mentone does make the difference.
