Since I had the day off, I decided to make a quick trip from Atlanta to Birmingham. I was really impressed by all of the new construction and renovations I saw happening in Downtown Birmingham and the surrounding neighborhoods. Birmingham is truly in the midst of a revival right now. I hope to make more trips to this wonderful city in the future!

Great job capturing what's happening in Birmingham. I lived there for many years prior to moving here, and some of those pics bring back memories like you wouldn't believe, both good and bad.

It's so good to see Birmingham finally turning the corner... even if it didn't begin until immediately after I pressed on.

Plenty of great shots in there. All of them are very good. Looking forward to your next day off.

Anyone else noticing the spike in civic pride around the area? It's an unremarkable display amongst America's mega cities, but for Birmingham it seems unprecedented and quite welcome. What I mean is, I'm seeing t-shirts, hats, mugs, koozies, bags . . . all sorts of merch around town touting Bham. As in people have seemingly fallen in love with the metro to the point that they're outwardly expressing their pride. I think it's a breath of fresh air for a city that was desperate to find itself again.

I can't go anywhere without seeing the like:

Last weekend I counted about 4 "BHM" hats in Avondale and, get this, 3 PARKSIDE logo t shirts.

I love that people are falling in love with the Ham.

Apparel repping different districts is... funny/crazy/great. I haven't seen the Parkside or Avondale one yet. But I'm sure Uptown and Lakeview gear can't be too far behind.

History has and will continue to reflect that RR Park is one of -- if not the -- major catalysts behind BHM's proverbial pendulum shift. It's only fitting that it has anchored and given rise to a new urban neighborhood out of a relatively obscure and forgotten portion of Midtown. The area's vibrancy is on full display; cranes are the temporary skyline of Parkside. Kudos to the folks behind the vision. It has cohesively developed into a distinct city district with exciting potential.

Parkside

That Parkside website is awesome. Not too long ago, the city didn't focus too much on this type of media. Very well done! It definitely helps with branding.
