What exactly is the reasoning for not having at least one in the Birmingham area?

We have talked about this place a hundred times and no one knows the answer. Here are some popular conclusions:

1. We don't meet their requirements.

2. Gambling laws would curtail many of their promotions.

3. They are considering the corner of 459 and 280 across from the Summit.

4. They are looking for a spot near the Galleria.

Well the Spot across the street from the Summit is AT&T, and they were looking to sell the building to the Summit, but my understanding that fell through and AT&T isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.

I believe when that idea was floated it was implied there is frontage property space in front of at&t and that they could sell that portion and remain in operation but I dont remember where or who said it. It is somewhere in one of the big development threads.

Ok, and it was sleepless before that that mentioned that intersection/area in general.

So it doesn't necessarily mean it would have to be that property, if it is going to happen in that area at all.

I haven't been to enough of them to say. I don't see why they would be mutually exclusive to one setting over another as long as it meets the qualifications as laid out on their website:

"Market Requirements

Super-regional Draw:*
• 700,000 to 1,000,000 daytime population (within 10 miles)*
• Average guest travels 22 minutes to visit our stores."

AND

"Dave & Buster's has a broad demographic appeal, serving as an attractive entertainment value for fun-seeking, casual-plus dining customers who enjoy spending time with friends and family."

So basically in a place where there's always a bunch of people nearby that have disposable income to eat out.

That requirement might not be met. 700k within 10 miles? I'm sure there are areas that are close to that, but certainly not much over it... if over at all. At best, we are fringe.

They also of course look at income demographics.

Someone mentioned the population and income requirements for Dave and Busters. I am sure that we meet the criteria, since both Tucson amd Greenville, SC can support one. It's a matter of time.
