Lighting of iconic 'Magic City' sign will herald opening of Birmingham's Rotary Trail | AL.com

Anyone know if this is still happening today?

I was there last weekend and took some video and though construction looked like it was coming along, I would be hard pressed to think it would be completed by today. I am thinking another couple weeks but haven't heard anything...

Pretty sure the event tonight is still happening. 6:30 dedication and 7:20-ish sign lighting.

I think they'll still be working on it through April, however, but maybe it's complete enough to open to the public?

Perhaps. The last block of it looked like it still had a fair bit of work to do but the couple blocks closer to 20th Street looked nearly complete.
