Default Bass Cemetary

Will be traveling through Birmingham area this summer, and want to find my ancestors cemetary (Bass). I understand it is in the Irondale area, am I correct? I also understand that it is overgrown and not well cared for. Am looking for directions/locations of the Bass Cemetary.

Not sure what you will be able to find, as from the reports below, it appears most of the headstones are broken.

Here you go

Endangered Cemetery Report

Irondale -
Bass Cemetery -
The cemetery is just over 200 years old and is the final resting places of many Civil War soldiers and deceased slaves. There has been reports of Occult situations there. Along with these reports came various accounts of animal corpses around the cemetery. One Crypt there has been looted and the body removed. It`s been said if you turn your car off and turn the lights out and wait for the windows to fog up when you turn the car back on there are handprints all over the car.

Thanks for the information. It's ashame that the cemetary has not been kept up. These old graves are a snapshot in time, and the genealogy data can be invaluable. It sounds like I will be able to access it without too much trouble.

It is privately owned, although from info on the websites, no one seems to know who owns it or if there are any records.

I agree totally, it is a shame. Maybe someone in the county record dept or a library can tell you who owns it or if there are any records.

My family is buried in this cemetary. It is very unkept as hard as people have tried. The gate is usually opened for visitors.
