Default Trader Joes rumor

I just heard the best news that completely brightened what has so far been a very bleak day. I only hope it's true!

I heard Trader Joes is coming to Birmingham! Supposedly they are pretty tight lipped about where the will open new stores but one of their cashiers, upon hearing a patron was from Birmingham, mentioned they had heard a new store was going to open in Hoover.

Has anyone heard anything to support this info?

Do you have any idea how many threads come up on City Data when you search on "Trader Joes"?!!

Well give me some credit....when you wrote about how great it was, I got on their website and told them that Birmingham had some extremely strong demographics, that the Costco in Hoover is in the top 10% of their stores worldwide, the Target on 280 is also in their top 10% (I chat up store managers incessantly!!!). That the Whole Foods on 280 was in the top 5 stores in the Southeast.

Told them to do the analysis and get their butt down here and start making some money off our market.

Looking forward to shopping there!!!

Well, considering that Birmingham Metro is now in the Top 35 for per capita income, it makes complete sense. What's more, Birmingham has had the highest percentage increase in income over the past 25 years of any metro area in the country. Shows you how far the area has come.

Bless you Bravo!!

I've e-mailed them my requests for a Trader Joes here as well. It was one of the first things I did after relocating here from CA.

Keeping fingers crossed. Finally I can have my Mochi Ice cream! (found out the hard way it does not survive the trip back to B'ham from Atlanta)
