There are some good people there, but they aren't the ones in power and they're grossly outnumbered by the crooked. For instance: a domestic abuse charge is handled in open court and the wife is forced to stand 2 feet away from her abuser and testify. This same man is on record for another assault charge less than two months before, and his first wife is allowed to bully his second wife while the judge just watches. Judge states she believes the abused wife's testimony, but refuses to make her decision until after the divorce is final, which completely dooms the abused woman's divorce. The UMWA's son is arrested for buglary and the charges magically vanish. It's a scary, backwards, backwoods town and you should avoid it like the plague. As far as Bessemer is concerned, yes, the schools are terrible. Consider Helena, but be careful which neighborhood you choose, because many lead out onto extremely congested roads that aren't adequate for the towns growing population.
Don't forget Bessemer's horrible crime! And lots of sex offenders! I would NEVER live there!

Please support your statement above.

According to the crime map, bessemer does not even come close to say the Homewood or Mountainbrook areas.

Bad hair day - again? Why are you posting negative personal remarks in just about every thread? Folks are asking questions - be so kind to give some information you base these posts on. Thank you.

Well, I am judging by the sex offender look-up online through the police website and as far as the crime in mtn. brook and homewood...I never said that they had low crime! I have never investigated they're crime. However Bessemer crime I have investigated and it is bad. Just turn on the local news, and I'm not talking simple burglary....

I don't know what your talking about. I have only posted on 2-3 threads and I'm entitled to my opinion on the areas that I investigated when moving to the area and after living here most of my life. I am offering my opinion to the people that asked. There was never any personal attack, maybe your just being too sensitive!

BTW....Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitors sites is not allowed
and go to Alabama Dept of Public Safety and you will find that there are 84 sex offenders in bessemer, 4 in homewood and 0 in mountain brook.

Yes, but your report is for "Down Town" Bessemer, NOT the out laying areas. Zip code 35020. Now try 35022 or 35111 (McCalla). I know a whole lot of people would not consider 35022 as Bessemer, and technically it is not, it is Unincorporated Jefferson County, but uses the Bessemer Post Office, so yes, I tell people I live in Bessemer as Unincorporated Jefferson County could be a whole lot of different places in Jefferson County. Maybe I should just start saying I live in the Bessemer area.(?)

Did you know there are million dollar homes in the Bessemer area? Homes that compare to Greystone and Heather Lake with one difference - You get land with the homes here. Yes, Mountain Brook, Hoover and Vestavia Hills ARE a GREAT place to live and raise a family, no doubt, but if you want a home with even one quarter to half and acre of land, your going to pay BIG, unlike the Bessemer area..
