Maybe I should just start saying I live in the Bessemer area.(?)
Did you know there are million dollar homes in the Bessemer area? Homes that compare to Greystone and Heather Lake with one difference - You get land with the homes here. Yes, Mountain Brook, Hoover and Vestavia Hills ARE a GREAT place to live and raise a family, no doubt, but if you want a home with even one quarter to half and acre of land, your going to pay BIG, unlike the Bessemer area..

I never said there are not some nice areas of Bessemer. I don't care how much a home costs, I don't judge an area by the price of the home. I for one like a modest home on a good plot of land. That being said....I still wouldn't choose to live in Bessemer. If I had the option...I would choose Mtn. Brook, or the others you mentioned first. However, really I would choose none of those. I base my opinion on schools, shopping, outdoors, and family friendly area. Not price of home and how much land its on. This is just MY opinion, please do not be offended. I'm sure you live in a great place for you.

As the question is over a year old and OP has not been heard from since - she and her family have hopefully found the perfect home.
On a personal note - I will take a known sex offender over HOA any day.
Back Again - still looking:>( Hobbit House is almost finished.
