Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

If you earn anywhere close to $85,000 in the Birmingham area, you can function quite well. You should be able to find a similar position, and if your wife's new job pays an above average salary, you should be in a better position from a cost-of-living position.

Default Hoover, Chealsea, Trussville

Can anyone tell us the differences between Hoover, Trusseville, and Chealsea? We don't want to live in the sticks but we ideally like at least a half acre... preferrable an acre. We'd also like to be within an hour to the airport. Thanks!

All 3 - rapid growth, cookie cutter subdivisions, although you may find something you like. Chelsea is way south of downtown, and commutes are rugged. You may have to do some searching to find an acre. You might look at Gardendale, which is "unfashionable" but has some really nice people and is growing. Leeds, on the east side...you'll just have to come and visit and look around for yourselves.
