Being someone who was born and raised in Atlanta, I would have to say Birmingham. I moved here last year from Atlanta. I lived in Cobb County and the commute was horrible downtown. If you live closer in like Vinings, Paces Ferry, Midtown or Buckhead, expect to spend 500K for a house.

It really came down to a quality of life issue for me. I had a baby and man my life changed. I started saying to myself, 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon for traffic is for the birds. That is 4 wasted hours out of my day.

Now, I am learning to acclimate to Birmingham. It is quite different culturally. However, there are just REAL, down home, nice people here. No matter where I go, people strike up conversations. I am not used to that in Atlanta.

I'd take the job in Birmingham. I live near Atlanta and absolutely hate it.

Why do you hate it?

It's a 7 year old thread. At last post, the OP was talking about working and living in NYC. Apparently the fiancee with family in the South and an aversion to cold weather disappeared from the scene.
