Well, so as to support equal opportunity in advising of neighborhoods to avoid, I'll add to the list Robinwood, which is between Tarrant and Pinson. Not that there's anything appealing and "historic" there . . . It is mostly white, very rough. We just sold a little rental house we had there. There were a few decent neighbors on that street, but the further you got into the neighborhood, the rougher it got.

51 responses for a single-post-wonder - not bad.

Why does everyone respond with crime related answers to the question worst neighborhoods? For me it is only one issue of many. What makes a neighborhood undesirable for a) a family raising kids b) retired couple c) young professionals?

crime is certainly an answer to your question.

To many people, the most important.

I doubt most people rate as equals proximatity of nearby shopping and crime.

(IMHO) The people who try to downplay high crime areas are investors who hope to flip houses in high crime areas and turn a neat profit.

I read the post about the schools. I live in Tarrant and my grandaughter went to Tarrant Elementary. She was an A - B Honor roll student. You dont get that from a crappy school. I say Tarrant Elementary is an EXCELLENT school. I also have NEVER had any problems with anyone around here.
And I know how ignorant some people are here in the south when it comes to race, so this info is coming from a white woman who happens to live with her black boyfriend who is an outstanding, hardworking, kind and gentle man. I have been in Tarrant for 2 yrs. now and I like it. Its actually pretty quiet here. All towns have a few troublemakers,no matter how "upscale" you call them.

There are times I think an occasional fight next door might be preferable over HOA.

Your officially nice neighborhoods have their fair share of violence, theft, drug and worst of all domestic violence. Mostly this gets handled "in house".

That is soooooo bad !!!!! Sure you need to live with some of the people you so despise in order to know them and you definitely could change your attitude some day before you die. Being a good person is not in the color of skin or where one lives.

The more "rims" and guys walking around with their pants on the ground you see, the more likely it is a bad area to live.
