Default him Jasper, her Hoover - housing options

I am considering a transfer to Jasper AL for work. My wife can transfer to Hoover if she wants. My question is what are the options for housing in between those areas? (I realize we are in for bit of a commute each way.)

We currently live in a northern suburb and have 2 young kids. Good schools are very important to us. Of second consideration is that we'd rather live near the city than in a rural area. We don't need to be in the city, but we'd like to be a short drive to shopping, restaurants, night life, etc. Housing price for us should be between 150K - 250k.

Most of what I read seems to imply that the areas that fit our needs are on the east and south. Is there anything on the west or north west that we should look into?

Thanks!

Well the half way mark would be around Adamsville or Graysville

Adamsville you can find nice homes in the $125K to $175K range

Graysville you can fine nice homes in the $150K - $190K range

Best of Luck!

For schools, check out - GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community OR ALSDE - Education Directory/Reports

Forestdale, you can get a nice home between $135K - $198K

I hope you didn't move to Jasper! If this isn't too late..try forestdale or gardendale.
