planning on a biking trip, and friends recommended we stay at the Union Station Motel, in downtown Birmingham, and only place I find, is in Montgomery. Does anyone know if there is a motel in Birmingham. Thanks

There isn't such a place in Birmingham. However, I recommend one of several cool places: Hotel Highlands, in the heart of the Five Points South restaurant district, or Ross Bridge, which is a very nice golf resort right outside of the downtown area.

It's 90-100 miles south on I-65, depending on where in Birmingham you start counting.

I'll bet the friend was mixing up cities and thinking of the Holiday Inn Chattanooga Choo Choo in Chattanooga TN. It used to be called Union Station Motel and in fact WAS the Union Station.
