You mention wanting your daughter in Hoover High. That means you need to live in Hoover. So that definitely helps narrow the search. I think you might find what you "need" in Hoover, but it will probably be a little outdated, or might even be a townhouse. Do check the rentals in the B'ham News and al.com (online version of the B'ham News). There are a TON of rentals in there right now because real estate isn't moving.

I think alabama is so pretty. I have briefly visited it for 3 days. I dont know where to look one person says here the other person will say the same area is bad. I have children I want to be safe as my husband travels all the time. Can you understand I dont care if its Alabama or Hawaii, I think of safety for my children. Thanks Harry..

I dont want to be in all the downtown traffice but he will be working in downtown birmingham as he will be driving to the hospitals like trinty and others on a daily basis as he is an inspector for YOUR hospitals. I need to have space for at least 3 cars and not sure if he is accepting the company car yet. I dont mind rurual areas I just dont want to have to drive 25 minutes to get to a small store in case I need something or milk in the middle of the night? I have to and I mean have to live by civilization so is that in Pinson or not. I do not like to travel far for things I must use everyday the stores or a drive thru McDonalds. LOL But I would say 20 minutes on the outskirts would be fine as long as its a neighborhood with street lights and sidewalks not cows and hay!
To be blunt - let me know when you find this hidden jewel.

Birmingham is not Louisville. Get used to commutes. Birmingham is more or less a number of small communities connected by lots of green. This means distances. Start a shopping list or ask your husband to make a stop on his way home if you forgot something.

I am not sure what you mean by civilization. ???

For 1200 you will not get a newer 3br/den in school districts such as Hoover/Oakmountain. That does not include utilities. Birmingham is not inexpensive. I was surprised when we moved here. 3br in my neighborhood goes for 1800-2200.

You throw this at us "he is inspecting YOUR hospitals". Please correct me. He accepted a job for whatever reason.

@@@Harry - I am afraid you are correct.
