Exactly, how safe is Birmingham?
Is the city area safe around UAB and financial districts or is dangerous throughout?

I bought a condo around Highland Park area and my daughter has lived there for 3 years, it is a safe area, she has had no problems.

It is a safe place as long as you don't do stupid things like leaving valuables in your car. The streets around UAB can vary from being very well kept to not. Overall keep a good head on your shoulders and you won't feel unsafe

Are the apartments in that area reasonably priced for students? As far as valuables, the only valuable thing I can think of that I leave in my car is my CD player, but it's practically worthless.
