I hope I can help you to feel better. My daughter is 23 and wanted to leave Florida after graduating high school and went to college at Birmingham Southern College, graduated last year and got an executive assistant's job within 30 days. She recently resigned that job and is going to attend UAB this fall working on a graduate degree. She will need a part-time job and I feel sure she will find one, here is a good site for you to see what's available, she should have no problem:

My husband and I ended up buying a home about 1.5 hr. drive outside Birmingham and will be living there full time starting in 2010. My daughter said she was never coming back to Florida so we knew we had to move there if we were going to be near her and hopefully future grandkids (she is our only child). I worried my head off when she 1st went there,

I flew up almost every 6 weeks and I really got to understand what she liked about living in a real city, Birmingham is a wonderful city IMO. Have faith, things will work out for her and I'll bet once you start visiting her you might end up like my husband and I.
Oh, I only know my daughter's zip code of 35205 which is around Highland Park area downtown, what other name do you have associated with that zip code like Hoover, Bessemer, etc?
