I won't be able to go to that, but I'll tell the rest of the forum. If you've never been to the Alys Stephens Center for any of its really amazing slate of performers, you are missing a treat. It's an amazing venue.

Does the ASO no longer play at BJCC? I know the Stephens Center is a newer facility, but have they totally abandoned the BJCC complex?

Yeah. The accoustics in the ASC are really good.

Wow. Sad, and I'm sure great at the same time. Why would there need to be 2 separate large performing arts venues in B'ham?

I'm sure Universities like to have their own performing arts center, and is used for other things besides performing arts.

Pull them up on-line to compare them. BJCC is cold, concrete, for most part uncomfortable seating and parking is not cheap. Alys Stephens consists of several halls, true theater feeling with carpeting, crystal, flowers and ushers who know their regular patrons by name. No problem to park and if you feel uncomfortable (in a crowd:>) an usher will walk you to your car. Check out the difference in performances as well not to mention ticket prices.

Well, the BJCC was built in the early 70s and is in desperate need of refurbishment.
