I just think it's more to this conviction than let to believe.Because all Alabama politicians cheat from top to bottom even Bob Riley the governor.Same thing happen to Don Seligman, he got handled by politics because he wanted the lottery(which probably would hurt someone's pocket). He gets all this from accepting bribes. Give me a break!!Someone wanted him gone.
So b/c they all cheat and take bribs there is "more to his conviction" ???

I think he's saying that there are differential prosecutions. Is it not unfair if side A cheats , and side B cheats, but only side A gets prosecuted?
I, for one, have no idea. I indeed guess that all politicians are to some extent corrupt. It seems he was guilty, and if so, I'm glad he was found guilty. I also have little love for Langford in general. He's quite the tool by my opinion.
However, I've talked with people who've claimed to have heard quite controversial statements regarding corruption and greed said in informal situations from major Alabama republicans currently in office. I don't know if he's exaggerating or what, but I'd certainly hope that convictions be sought in an unbiased manner.
But you do have to question: if he gets a long sentence, but the lobbyist and investment banker who got the corrupt millions get less time than him, is something wrong? Part of the fact is obviously that they chose to plea bargain, but this is a common thread. More than black/white, dem/rep, I would think its more moneyed interests vs non-moneyed and powerful vs powerless. Those with the $ and power win every time. IMO, certain races, political parties, etc. are easily persecuted not because of their demographic is specifically persecuted per say, but because those within their demographic currently aren't in the positions of power.

I watched your video clip and it said nothing about 800 years. However, with that said, maybe all 60 counts, have a TOTAL of 800 years, however, I still heard it will be between 4 to 8. If each count held just 4 years, that would be a total of 240 years!

Also, why is he playing the race card??? A Black Mayor playing the race card - good lord! He stated "as many black people were scratched off the jury as possible" - Hey, his attorney had just as much of a say in who sat on the jury as the prosecutor! I understand there were 3 black people on the jury - a little lop-sided, I agree, but coming back with a verdict in 2 hours, Ill tell you this, his "Peers" sure did not put up much of a fight on his behalf - if they fought at all!

"A black man can not get a fair trial in this country, someone ought to do something about that" - Not as long as politicians, and not just Larry Lanford, are more worried about lining their own pockets over what is good for the people as a whole! Our whole system has become so corrupt. I would like to see all of them put on trial like Larry Langford was.

The guy is guilty as sin, got caught and now has to pay the price. Even if he was caught because someone had it out for him, he still could not have gotten caught if he didn't do anything wrong, right?

Fair enough, but is the answer that side A should get off, just because side B got away with it or has more political power? It is this type of thinking that is a part of what is wrong with our system.

Obviously not. Like I said before, I have no love for Larry besides the corruption, and if he's corrupt (as the evidence seems to plainly indicated from both outside and inside the courtroom), he should be convicted.
I don't know what "this type of thinking" is.
It's a weak political system that is controlled by an elite group and a population (including me) that hasn't made any sizable attempt to change it.

He said it on Tom Joyner show.

"In the brief phone conversation Langford joked with Joyner and his sidekicks about the former mayor's potential sentence of 850 years in federal prison. Langford said will be sentenced in January or February".

If anyone held an ounce of respect for Langford, it should have fled upon hearing his response to his verdict. I'm sure this made national news at some point and it's embarrasing. This is one reason B'ham is looked upon unfavorably by outsiders. I love how he calls on the name of God and points out his faith at every opportunity. Obviously a man who has learned to do what he wants in order to get what he wants.

He can cry racism all he wants. Siegleman and Scrushy are not black, but they're sitting exactly where they need to be. Soon Langford will be joing them. It's not racism - it's justice. Now, it's time to clean up the rest of B'ham and Jefferson County.

As a former B'ham resident: Hear, hear!! Where's Artie Deutsch when we need him??

The only bad thing that I see about playing the lottery is it doesn't help Alabama Schools but about every State in the Nation does appreciate all that Alabama money being pumped into their School systems. I'm retired now but when I was working I had a Friend who went to the Florida line every week and charged us $2.00 a ticket. That came to $7.00 a week for me. Me and a Friend shared a card and we hit 5 numbers which usually pays a pretty high sum. But my luck held and on the Front Page of the B-Ham News it said,
" Record number of People hit 5 numbers on Florida Lottery."
He and I shared $50.00 LOL!!! $28.00 bucks a month and some of you are probably thinking,
"Do you know what the odds on winning a lottery is?"
Much better than those that never play LOL!!! We blow more than $28.00 a month and have nothing to show for it. At least some Kids are benefiting from the money we pump into Florida.
And about Larry lest I stray from the subject? LOL!! Politicians are Politicians are Politicians. Nuff said.
