Can someone please explain Larry Langford to me
How does Birmingham end up with a mayor like Larry Langford???!!!
Did anyone just listen to his response to his guilty verdict???? Unbelievable.

Can a city like Birmingham (won't go into detail, just a city LIKE B'ham - take Detroit for example) do better than this? I know there are intelligent, educated people who live within the city limits, but do any of them want to take on what the city has become? Unless the suburban flight can be reversed, I don't see anything better in the city's (as opposed to the metro area's) future.
Full Disclosure: I have lived in Birmingham 3 separate times, and spent a total of about 5 of my adult years in the city proper. Left the city in '97 - My how things have changed since then! Even then, though, we used to watch the city council meetings on public access, and just shake our heads...

My question is, can we now start doing the same to our congress?

Well, I for one can sleep better at night knowing that La La got the porn theater closed down. His next trick, walking on water, will be done in prison for the admission price of two and a half cigarettes.

There's something fishy about this story, a man doesn't get 800 years for bribes he wouldn't get that if he had murdered someone. There is some mean politics going on in Birmingham and Larry Langford need some new lawyers.

He hasn't gotten 800 years. He hasn't even been sentenced yet. That is the theoretical maximum of all charges. He will likely get about 8 years.

I wonder if he will speak again on the things he said outside the courthouse; such things as a black man can't get a fair trial in Alabama, or a jury of white people are not his peers, or the whole Alabama Jucidial system should be investigated
What would happen if a white man stood up and said he could not get a fair trial unless his jury was white?? It would make national news

Where did you get 800 years from? I heard it would be between 4 to 8 years. Hell, he is even out on bond awaiting his sentance.
Oh by the way, you are correct, a person accused of murder would not get 800 years, they would get LIFE, but then again life is shorter then 800 years.

I just think it's more to this conviction than let to believe.Because all Alabama politicians cheat from top to bottom even Bob Riley the governor.Same thing happen to Don Seligman, he got handled by politics because he wanted the lottery(which probably would hurt someone's pocket). He gets all this from accepting bribes. Give me a break!!Someone wanted him gone.
