Moving to Birmingham
We are moving to Birmingham. We like the Hoover area. What are some nice family neighborhoods in Hoover in the 300's range. How about the schools? I have a 3rd grader and 6th grader. Thanks for your help.

The answer to your question is "just about anywhere in Hoover." You'll need to let us know more about your likes and dislikes. New construction or is older OK? Small or large lot? New Urbanist development, or standard subdivision? Walking distance to schools or not? How many square feet?Fixer or everything done? Hwy 280 area, Valleydale Road area, Galleria area, Bluff Park area or western Hoover area? Do you want HOA restrictions or not?

The Preserve in hoover is a cute neighborhood. I think there is a homeowners assoc. fee though. There are a lot of great places!

We are looking for a family friendly neighborhood that has a pool. We would be ok with new or older neighborhood.

Bluff Park is an older area in hoover that many younger couples with kids are moving into. No HOA and there is a neighborhood pool...however, I think there is a waiting list to get membership. Good schools too!

Before you decide on "Hoover" in general - inform yourself about the differences between Shelby and Jefferson county such as taxes, utilities, amenities (libraries, public pool, ...) and some issues such as sewer bond.

go to bhammls.com - that is public MLS site. That may help. Hoover can still come up as "Birmingham" in the City so I'd search by zip code. What city are you relocating from? Hoover schools are good -but also big......okay if the kids are used to that size ...if not it can be overwhelming.

I believe The Preserve homes are more than $300s. Definitely a nice neighborhood though.
You might consider Trace Crossings....
Bluff Park is a nice but much older community for the most part. There is definitely a waiting list for that pool. My sister lives up there and they sat on the waiting list for 2 or 3 years before they got in.
