Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

You Just Never Know When Your Team....

....hits into a triple play!

It was the Chicago White Sox against my Houston Astros in the bottom of the third in Houston. Jake Marisnick hits a grounder to Yoan Moncada at third base, and it started a round-the-horn triple play. This type of play is typical of many triple plays, and then again, you don't get to see this type of play every day.

At the time, my Astros were down, 2-0, but have since come back. They did take the lead,...

Allergy Season Not Over Just Yet

Posted 05-21-2019 at 07:53 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

If one thing is very encouraging, it has to come in the form of a new Vicks inhaler which I just got at the grocery store. One whiff and.....

......WOOOOOOOOO- baby!!!

Jalapenos won't even have the same effect. It was just time to get a new container since the old one was losing its steam. Great stuff, this Vicks. Got to seriously take care of the last vestiges of what had been intermittent allergy intervals, smack dab in the...

Miracle On A Windy Day And The Ice Cream Sundae

Posted 05-20-2019 at 02:14 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It used to be that your favorite blogger would often get stains on his clothing whenever he'd eat anything. You name it, and many times, it involved sauce, syrup, or gravy. Basically, it'd be my careless side, thinking about eating whatever it is rather than watching what it is I'm doing.

Well, Ol' Case presented a challenge to himself this morning. Had to stop at Andy's Frozen Custard for the very first time. I had just finished a sonogram ultrasound...

Here's How Oklahoma Can Improve Rest Areas: Follow Texas' Lead

Posted 05-15-2019 at 08:12 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Interstate highways have to have rest areas every once in a while. Sometimes, motorists and truck drivers can't wait to stop in the next town or city, and so, the rest area can offer something for them.

You look at the state of Oklahoma, and have you thought about the condition of that state's rest areas on both I-35 and I-40? They're outdated, sports fans. Every precious one of them is in need of a major remodel. Oklahoma is still figuring out what...

Moms Out There, Your Day Is Coming

Posted 05-10-2019 at 07:48 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's not here yet, but it's going to be here at last before you know it. And it's going to be special, too.

Mothers, your day is almost here!

Hopefully, you've got a son or a daughter to meet with you and have breakfast, brunch, lunch, dunch, lupper, supper, or snack time to celebrate the grand occasion. Don't ask why; just get involved and soak it in. You deserve it.

As for the rest of you, when the calendar...
