Ok that helps clear things up a bit.

I also moved from San Francisco to Florida, but I chose Orlando. However, I still understand your desire for wanting a more tropical atmosphere, etc. I used to live in South Florida as well.

San Francisco and Miami are apples to oranges. San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale are apples to catfish.

I really think you need to go to Miami / Miami Beach for what you want. Fort Lauderdale surprisingly
