Lord knows there's few frustrations quite as powerful as a car that doesn't work as advertised. Even in our quality-promoting epoch, there's still a hefty business for lemon law attorneys around the United States; in other countries where consumer laws have not advanced so far, those frustrations can fester. At least that's the story told by a man who hauled his 2008 BMW M6 coupe to the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany last week and started taking batting practice with a sledgehammer.

The V10 S85 seems to be plagued by more and more issues as time goes by. I am reading about owner's having to change rod bearings at less than 75k miles. Of course, lots of variables factor into how long mechanical components last. I'm sure this guy was pretty fed up, which by all accounts he should be. An '08 M6 was a $100k+ car new.

To be honest I feel like doing the same to my car! I didn't spend anywhere near this much on my car as this fellow did on the BMW but I know where he's coming from.

I don't understand what this accomplishes. Yes, now there is a more public view of his consternation, but all he has now is a beat up high dollar car.

maybe he just wanted to add some custom personal styling cues to his M6...He pimped his own ride with a sledgehammer all it took was some elbow grease and it cost him nothing to Re-style his $100K+ Coupe

Little late for this as the post is old, but BMW's are not that hard to work on, well M's are different and really do not have that many issues. Broken rear springs, oil leaks the usual plus random component failure as would any car. This reminds me of when I was younger and working at an import dealer, this kid kept bringing in his 2 year old Audi with check engine light on every few days, he was getting pissy and everytime the techs cleared the code and sent it to wash, service advisor explained what the code was for several times. Well he complains enough at home and his dad got pissed at the dealer and demanded to know what was wrong, thinking they had bought some lemon. One of the senior techs took dad for a ride in the car, and made the light come on by revving the engine WAY past redline one too many times, then showed dad the print outs for the previous times the car had come in, every time it was engine maximum revolutions exceeded. The car sat on our lot for a month in perfect condition until jr was allowed to drive it again. Dad made him get a job and pay the bill if he wanted it back, kid was really humble when he came in to pick it up as well........
