It came with a transferrable extended warranty until 2020. The vehicle has 17000 miles now. It had 4500 when I bought it last fall. I need to replace the battery. The extended warranty does not cover the battery.
My question is should I use my mobile mechanic who also works on my 2009 BMW 325i x drive, or the Dealer? Should I be concerned to not void the extended warranty? It expires in 2020. It also needs an oil change and brake fluid. I work from home and I usually alternate driving them every 3 days
Any advice is appreciated. TIA!

None of us can know what your ext warranty says in the mice print/disclaimers...

If you trust your mobile mech and he brings quality batts that are slowly brought up to full charge before install, and has the program(s) to 'register' your new battery, then give him a go.

Fwiw, that is some anecdotal stuff about registering a new batt on your year, that suggest the OE replacement is 'easier' to code than a non OE BMW (expensive) new battery is.

The mobile mech/DIY oil change/filter and new brake fluid should not void any aftermkt/extended warranty that I have heard of.

Or, you can take it to your local BMW dlr for all of the above, but it will push $600-$700+ in my experience.

I had my Mobile Mechanic over to replace the battery in the 2013 BMW 328i. He also did an oil change on the 2009 BMW 328i x drive. I am having him come tomorrow morning to do and oil change on the 2013 BMW, and to test drive both to see if the wheels/rims are bent. I like him because he makes sure to get rid of the warning indictors

Glad you got the new batt; hope he 'registered batt' in your OBC system, otherwise the alt may not charge batt properly. If he 'registered' it great, if not you may or may not get away with non register, long term.

Your mech must be very skilled to test drive and determine wheel bent situ, from feel. If 'bent' or tires out of balance, I rec'd a good specialty tire shop with Road Force balancing equipment, patience and skill, to get tires properly balanced, and if wheel is 'bent' there are wheel shop specialists that repair 'bent' wheels, sometime with success, sometimes not...

Clearing 'indicators', eg clearing codes is one way, though 'cleared' codes often return vs fixing the reason for the code.

Generic OBC readers will give a general broad 'reason' for the code, but if your car(s) have codes a more specialized code reader, often with specific brand 'sub menus', can lead the tech to a more specific reason for the 'indicator'/code.

Thank you for your explanation. I do not understand the garage shop talk it is like Chinese to me. Maybe if you could try to Explain it in a new way, like related to decorating or cooking or fashion or health.
I am just an Italian American girl. I just want to drive with no issues.
And for now, I have zero.
For resolving future issues, the things the 2009 BMW needs now is a seat belt sensor. When I am wearing my seat belt, the seat belt indicator light comes on like One time out of 30. My new mechanic says the sensor is inside the buckle. IDK. It also needs a new passenger window regulator. One in 30 times it will not roll up, but does so on the 8th time. I Never leave the vehicle exposed to Shop. Never. The rubber seal around the front windshield should be replaced. The vehicle sat in multiple car lots, for 6 months before being sold. It has 90K on it now. I really love it, nice and roomy. Great sound system. Solid vehicle. I call it my 4X4 lol - its a 2009 328i x drive; Not sure what is under the hood but it drives much better after I had a new coil installed. This has had to be done 2 times in 1 year. I do drive it in M mode only. It never redlines because it shifts by itself. It has pedals. But, I do try to not run it at very high RPM too much, and I sit in enough traffic to offset racing around. I will go in m2 up to 40 mph, the m3 until 60 mph then m4 forever because m4 is where the control at high speeds is. I bet lot of people do not realize that Sport mode and Drive mode actually give you Less control. Did you know that? M mode all the way

My new mobile mechanic said having him change the oil does Not Void the BMW Extended Warranty. IS that true? I also questioned his oil brand and weight. My previous BMW mechanic swears by Castrol 5-30. My new mechanic used a big blue jug of 5-40 and it was Not Castrol. The oil cap says Castrol oil, but maybe that's an endorsement between the two companies, IDK
