It's a long shot, but out of the blue it's possible my wife and I might be relocating to Boise next year with our toddler. We have never been to Boise and plan to visit this summer.

We'd love some basic advice in a few areas. I know these forums are great for people giving straight-up, honest views and I appreciate that.

1. We're comfortable in city neighborhoods and love to be able to walk to stores, parks, etc. and not have to drive much if we can help it.

2. That being said, we care deeply about safety and security (comes with the parental territory, of course) and we're not too far from the school years, so good schools are a high priority.

3. Ideally, we'll find a safe, walkable neighborhood with good schools, character, and lots of families with young children. We're not entirely sure what our home purchase budget will be, but we'll probably be looking in what some might consider the more expensive areas (not sure we'll be quite at the most expensive neighborhood level).

Open it up. Anything that comes to mind is welcome. The only neighborhood we've heard of as one that might be interesting is North End. But really, we're blank slates.

Thanks in advance!

Hi BostonBorn,

Not sure why noone is replying, but perhaps it is too common. I posted this last fall, and I received several good replies. It is only for a certain part of town though.

I'd suggest you also look at East Boise, Bown Crossing/Harris Ranch. Hidden Springs might also be something to consider, but I don't know what's happening with the school.

Much of Boise is quite safe and spread out.
