fruit/vegetable gardening question
So this year I would like to experiment with attempting to grow some fresh fruits and or vegetables at my house. Nothing large or extravagent. I'd like to try to be successful at growing something that will be somewhat tasty and edible, and moreso as a learning experience to build off of in the following years.
i have been searching on the web for a bit, but hopefully some of you may know...
Which foods would be productive in our environment? and moderately easy for a beginner?
some things i was thinking of is corn, strawberries, watermelon, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, green beans...probably not all at once as i do not know how much space would be needed for such a variety.
A couple of dwarf fruit trees would be nice too i think, like a peach tree.
any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Edward's Greenhouse off of Hill Road between Collister and 36th (look for their giant sign near Tamarack St.) has a wonderful supply of vegetables plus a customized local timetable you can pick up from them that outlines when to plant which veggies for our local weather. They have literally 100's of varieties of tomatoes including heirlooms and more contemporary varieties with lots of information about each plant to help you decide what to get. The people who work there are always available to help and are truly expert gardeners from our area. For a beginning gardener, they are an incredible resource. Plus, they also have flowers, gorgeous hanging baskets, seeds, and lots of fun gardening goodies. Their greenhouses are wonderful and a divine place to visit.
Off the top of my head, I'd say focus on tomatoes, zuchini, onions, corn, beans, lettuce, spinach and squash. They are all easy to grow and do well in our area.
Good luck--gardening is the best!!
