Hi,
We moved here about a month ago and finally found a place. Now as we are in the process of moving in, there are a few furniture pieces we would like to pick up. However, I am finding that the local craigslist and thrift stores are way overpriced and don't have a very good selection and brand new furniture stores offer the same gaudy furniture.... for their typical ridiculous prices.
Any thoughts on where I can find some decent modern/ contemporary pieces without the hefty price tag?

Ha. I have noticed that compared to other states I have lived, the local craigslist prices are super high.
I've noticed the high prices on CL too. Stuff is actually cheaper at the used furniture places, and I've seen stuff at the used places that they got from CL so the CL sellers do come down on their prices if you are good at haggling.
Have you tried Sara's on Orchard? Every once in a while they have something decent. You've probably already shopped The Bench Commission on Roosevelt and Rose Hill or Franklin whatever the street is named there.
Has anyone been to Model Home Furnishings? I see their ads and mean to go look but haven't gotten around to going out to Eagle. Supposed to be the same prices builders get.

Check out Bench Commission on Rose Hill which is not too far from the train depot.
CHF also has a scratch and dent outlet and has great furniture in there, for reasonable prices (it's not the particle board garbage you find at most places).
Vintage on Broadway and Highland? Hale? They have some cool furniture that can be had at a decent enough price.
