What is the difference between the two cities, in general, and is there a divided boundary of Hispanic and white cities going on right now in Boise? I looked up the Census 2010 statistics, and it shows that Caldwell is the fastest growing Hispanic population city while Meridian is the fastest growing white population city. Interesting... Why can't it be diverse, balance, and mix. Do people live differently with different lifestyles in one city?

Meridian is a suburb of Boise and as such has a typical suburban profile. Caldwell is in a different county and is not really a suburb of Boise. Yes, some people commute into Boise from Caldwell but Meridian is a white collar suburb and Caldwell is a blue collar suburb. Caldwell is more agricultural, lots of farmland and food processing plants in the area, combined with cheap rents and you can see why it is more Hispanic in nature.

People in Idaho are free to move anywhere they want. Certain cities like Jerome, Burley and Caldwell attract more Hispanics than whites. Nobody is keeping them away from places like Boise or Meridian.

People just tend to want to be with people who are similar to them. Be it race, religion, economic, social status or any combination. Mexicans most likely feel more comfortable in a community with a lot of fellow Spanish speakers.

If more Hispanic people decide to move to Meridian, will it create a white flight (meaning most white people move out) in this city? I'm not saying it will happen, but there is always a small chance it will happen. In Los Angeles, CA, white flight is extremely strong in that area, and it's not finished yet since the 1960s when Hispanic people moved in constantly.

I doubt that white flight would happen here. The segregation is strictly due to workplace- many of the hispanics are migrant farmers, so they choose to live in Caldwell for the proximity to work, not because there is prejudice. That being said, if gangs started to form and crime started to increase like Los Angeles, I'm sure that there would be an uproar, but it would not be racially motivated for the most part.
