Thanks Justin
and you are right - being an American married to a Canadian -there really is no prejudice to Canadians -
the reason I asked this - is that I am concerned about the number of coments regarding the CAlifornians or others moving into Boise -
We spent our vacation in Boise and felt so welcome, loved the people, enjoyed the downtown, the evenings were great at the restaurants and movies -
However, moving there could be a different issue - I guess I always believed the door should always be open to your neighbors - I want to feel welcome not scrutinized that I pass the test -
there is another thread on here regarding the CAlifornia movement - and some are disturbing to read
Here in Az we got lots of people from EVERYWHERE - - it just makes amore diverse, fun area to be in - everyone has a story to tell with a different accent -
So anyways, I am rambling - the question is - Are CAnadians welcome in Boise?

About now it seems most people in Boise aren't from Boise, people heckle Califorians mostly as a joke, at least when i do it is, my neighbor is from cali and hes a great guy, most people moving here are trying to flee their areas not bring with them, i think everybody is pretty much welcome in Boise, we try to be good people

Hello, I immigrated to Idaho from Canada in Jan 2008 and am seeking other Canadians from the border of Ontario Oregon throughout Treasure Valley. Would be nice to get together on Canada Day July 1!

What about midwesterners in Boise?
I'm in Chicago and noticed many people left this area to move to the pacific northwest. Do you find a lot of Chicagoans (yes, that's the word for them ) in the area?

well, I've offically been here for 10 months now. I'm from CA and my husband is an AZ cowboy of sorts. I have dark hair and brown eyes (Spanish heritage). We have yet to encounter ANYone who has not been friendly or welcoming.
I have encounter no CA bashing at all and have not felt like an outsider in anyway.
The only thing I experience once was a gentle ribbing about my CA plates from a young neighbor when we first moved it. He was a local boy - born and raised - and joked that I should change my plates. it was all in good fun. BTW, he said nothing about the AZ plates.

Yeah, I remember some Canadian artist was playing at the old River Fest and spoke of how much Boise reminded her of Canada. Then a drunk lady fell of the top of a car she was dancing on. lol.
Anyways, last summer in Boise at almost everystop light there was at least one or two California plates.

Plates I notice a lot lately in Boise other than CA, WA, AZ, OR and UT are from Colorado, Maine, Wisconsin, and (yikes) Texas.
I've seen a fair number of plates from British Columbia and Alberta.
