We are a family of 8 currently living in Texas, but considering a move to Boise next summer. We homeschool our 6 little ones. I am wondering which of the parishes out there are the most traditional/conservative as far as dress, music style, preaching goes? Thanks so much!
Actually many fervent Catholics these days homeschool. :-) I have nothing against parochial schools, but would have to make sure they were a good environment (spiritually speaking) before sending my children. Unfortunately they aren't always. Anyone know about the Cathoic schools in Boise? Also, forgot to mention that homeschooling saves you LOTS of money. :-)
Here is a latin mass community with plenty of traditional Catholics at the following number:Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel----------------208-888-9631 221 W. Elm Street NEW PLYMOUTH , ID Sunday 10:00...mass
It is about 45 min drive from Eagle Road and I 84...the fellow who answers is great and there are plenty of kids and adults...the priest is great !!!!
Did you end up moving to the Boise area? My fam is also considering moving there, and we are Catholic and homeschooling as well. I would love to know if you found a parish you're happy with and a faithful Catholic community. Thanks!
We are also a Catholic homeschooling family considering Boise. Wondering about the Catholic culture there -- are there any religious orders or opportunities for adult faith formation?
Also, how strong and present is the Bishop in ministry and instructing his flock?
We are a Catholic home schooling family and we are planning to move to Eagle this spring/summer from California. We were in Boise last August 15 and were hearteneded that the relatively new bishop of Boise consecrated the Boise diocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on that day. As I recall, he also encouraged parishes to say the Holy Rosary before mass. Now, my memory is a little foggy, but I think he followed up by offering each paris a Scott Hahn study on the Holy Mother of God.
I take these as good signs, because the previous Boise bishop was liberal according to a good source. And I can say from first hand experience that Holy Apostles in Meridian has a liberal pastor. I believe St. Paul's in Nampa may be better. My knowledge is limited, but I hope that many good Catholic families move to the Boise area.
