Without mentioning insurance companies by name, can anyone comment on average cost of heath insurance for a family of three. I realize deductibles, health history, prescription meds, ect. vary greatly....just want to hear what some folks are paying per month. Please PM me if you want to relay specifics that may get cut by the Moderator. Thanks!!

My husband and I pay almost $500/month for plans that offer annual wellness exams but no testing/labwork/etc. and a $5,000 deductible. It is a plan that has great coverage once the deductible is met so we pay a bit higher rate for that. Still, the plan offers virtually no benefits--we pay for everything out of pocket as we've never met the deductible. We are both extremely healthy, no prescription meds, both near the age of 40 so our health "numbers" are fairly low.

Hope that helps!

Thanks.... does your plan qualify for a Health Savings Account so you can use pre-tax dollars for your expenses other than paying the premium?
