Lol! I used to live In Los Angeles, Chicago, and D.C., I could spend hours , and I mean hours to go like nowhere. So this traffic isn't really that bad, just sometimes it can take a while to get out to Eagle from downtown boise, maybe they could use another highway or expressway. Actually boise is planning a state street corridor, but it prob will be a while until it's fully realized.

Too bad. I often disagreed with Anchorless but I appreciated his viewpoint and it was always well-written. I wish he could have kept it appropriate. I think the Idaho forum will miss the balance he brought.

Earthquakes: I have lived in Boise pretty much all my life, and the last earthquake I remember feeling was the one in Challis 25 years ago. (I was in kindergarten at the time) So while we are technically an earthquake zone, with potential for having a large earthquake, don't think of us as being like California, with little earthquakes happening all the time. Someone mentioned we have the most earthquakes in the US. I've never heard that before. I suppose it might be possible, but as I said, I've never felt an earthquake in the last 25 years.

Its not even remotely true, I don't know where that guy got his information but I hope it wasn't in school...
Alaska has the most earthquakes in the US, in fact it has more earthquakes in a year then the rest of the US combined. It also has 11% of the total earthquakes worldwide.

Would you recommend an area fairly close to downtown that had housing neighborhoods? (i.e.- something with yards)
Is there one or more central shopping areas or fun places to hang out? What streets are they near? Thanks.

I was giving him the benefit of assuming he meant the lower 48. Even then, I would be very surprised, but couldn't find anything online to rule it 100% out. I know the Borah Peak/ Challis quake was one of the largest (3rd?, 4th?) in the lower 48.

Down goes Anchor... Down goes Anchor... Ladies and Gentleman!! I don't believe my eyes! The Angy Anchor is taken down by Torrie the Terrible. The humanity... the humanity... The Thrilla in Manila was nothing compared to this drawn out hundred round bout...
What a blood bath... I will miss him in a twisted sort of way. Sage, maybe you could just give him a time out and a fine. I mean look what Tyson did to Hollyfields ear...

I sell homes and don't do rentals so am not sure about that market. Home prices are dropping and it is a buy;ers market right now. My young family members really enjoy living here with all the outdoor things to do. My daughter and friends mountain bike plus ride the long greenbelt here. There is also Alive After Five which has downtown entertainment. There are all sorts of soccer teams for adults here including mixed, plus indoor and outdoor soccer fields. BSU is a good college plus extensions of other colleges here. There are organizations for young mom to get together with their babies. Also th;ere are a lot of homeschoolers if that's you bag. Many bank, restaurants, theatres plus our Morrisson Center for broadway plays, Nampa Civic center for plays and other places. We have a grat deal of activies going on all the time if you look for them. A lot of young people also enjoy the camping here which isn't all that far of a drive and seems to be safe, we do it a lot an are older and never have problems. Summers are hot like 100's but no humidity, but hot is still hot. THere is a river that runs through town and then we have Lucky Peak Res that people go to fish, waterski and picnic at the edge of town, no trees there but fun if you like the water.
At the Idaho Center we get all the rock bands any large city gets.
Don't ask what the peopel are like as it always reminds me of the old stoy about the guy who asks what the peopel are like where a person lives as he might move there, the guys says, they are all jerks. The other guy says well, you'll find them the same way here. Boise still has it's small town attitude where people get involved in what's going on with their neighbors and get involved in their community. Coming up is our annual Paint The Town where people provide the materials and time and paint homes of seniors who can no longer do it for themselves. Pretty nice. Insurance and house taxes inspite of what the locals say are still a good deal especially compared to Mane, NH, MA, I can guarantee you.
Water is expensive so if you have Boise City water you will pay for it as we usually exchange the heat bill in the winter for the water bill in the summer.
SOme areas have irrigation and that is a real bargain, at least my clients usually like it unless they get weeds from using it.
Jobs, remember the small town part, a lot of jobs are still who you know.
Earthquakes one in 1985 but I have lived in CA so I know about the constant rumble as we lived on the San Adreas fault line in San Bernardino, nothing at all compared to that place.
Food the kids tell me Walmart & Winco are the cheapest to buy at then for theYuppie group we have the Co-0p, organic foods, spendy but they feel it's worth it and if you are older or a regular you get a discount.
Clothing loads of discount places like Ross, Tj Max, then for outdoor stuff REI,Gart etc. We are not in the dark ages here. Upperend we have Macy's adn Dillards. There is not an ocean here if you want the down side.
Rambled on enough, hope it's helpful.
