I have Cricket at the moment, but I have a smartphone and their network seems to think I'm using the phone as a modem when I'm not. Plus the coverage in my apartment and office is not the best.

I see Straight Talk has a $45 unlimited talk/text/web plan that includes smartphones, and you can use any GSM phone. I have an old T-Mobile phone I can use, but before I fork out for a new SIM I want to know what the service is like around Boise.

Anyone have any experience with it?

I don't know anything about those options but I'm wondering if you've checked out Virgin Mobile? We have it for one of our smartphones and it's great. Unlimited data/phone is $35/month.

I've heard VM's data speeds are extremely slow, but that was from people who live in other areas. I did check out the Straight Talk deal further, and it looks like they are a reseller that buys minutes and data in bulk from the carriers so which carrier you get depends on which phone you buy.

The bring your own deal is only on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks. I've had T-Mobile in the past, and it didn't work well in a few places I needed it. I ended up picking up a phone to use through ST on AT&T.
